Sun, sand & sea in Dubai!

The best way to see Dubai is certainly by water and what better way to get around than by speedboat! Eddy’s brother Joe was in town and since he had already visited Dubai numerous times we decided to take him on a new experience.

We headed down to the Splash Tours dock at the Dubai Marina and hopped onboard to begin our speedboat adventure! The Marina itself is so picturesque, you just have to get that quintessential Dubai shot with soaring skyscrapers in the background.

Our first stop of the day was by the the ferris wheel – Ain Dubai. Construction is still taking place and they’re about half way to completion. Once built it will actually be the world’s largest ferris wheel reaching 260 metres. A complete rotation on the wheel will take 48 minutes and I can only imagine the incredible views you will have from up there!

We kept cruising along to reach our next pitt stop –  the perfect vantage point for a view of JBR beach. I particularly like JBR as the residential towers behind the beach provide such an interesting perspective compared to your typical ‘beach day’ shot.

At thrilling speeds of up to 35 knots we made our way to Atlantis the Palm. Atlantis will always hold a special place in my heart because on my very first trip to Dubai back in 2011 my cousin and I spent a day at Atlantis. Who would have thought back then that I would relocate to Dubai and still be here 5 years later! Atlantis is located at the tip of the Palm Island and is another picture perfect photo opportunity that the tour provides. I’ve visited Atlantis on many occasions in the past but never have been able to get the complete structure in any of my shots, this vantage point however proved to be ideal!

We circled around the Palm to arrive at our next luxurious destination, the Burj Al Arab. Designed to look like a mast of a sail this hotel provides luxury at its finest with a fleet of Rolls Royce cars, a helipad, an incredible underwater restaurant and drinks sprinkled with gold dust fit for a King! As you can see Eddy and Joe opted for the seat at the front of the boat where all the action was, bumps and all! I was too chicken to go anywhere near the front while speeding through the open waters.

I had never actually seen the Burj Al Arab from this this angle and I quite liked the unusual perspective. It really is the best place for photos, as you’re not going to get this viewpoint of this iconic hotel unless you’re on the water!

You have the opportunity here to take some photos of the back of the Burj Al Arab before heading around to the side of the hotel where you can really admire the design of this unique building.

Next we made our way into the stunning Palm Jumeirah and cruised down some of the fronds that connect to the main trunk of the island. Did you know that the Palm is actually a man made island that significantly increased Dubai’s coastline. Luxury villas and an array of 5 star hotels sit on the island including one of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s residences and his 162m yacht aptly named Dubai.

We arrived back at the Marina at golden hour and steered slowly through the canal back to the dock. It was the perfect way to end the trip as you cruise along at such a relaxing speed giving you the opportunity to really take in the views. The sunset tour was particularly special as when the light started to fade, all the lights in the towers started to switch on – just magical. We were also very lucky to be out on such a clear day and even spotted the moon overhead. Can you see it in this shot?

So if you would like an action packed 90 minute thrill ride tour of the spectacular coastal landmarks that Dubai has to offer, I would highly recommend the incredible service of Splash Tours. We opted for the 1045am tour and we had such a great time that we returned for a sunset tour the next day at 6pm.

Thank you Splash Tours for a such a wonderful adrenalin filled experience!
