Bucket list: The Seychelles

It has always been a dream of mine to visit the Seychelles and I am so glad that nearly four years after joining the company I was given not one but two layovers in the Seychelles!

Only a quick four hour trip from Dubai, I can’t believe I didn’t holiday in this island paradise sooner. One tip I received on Instagram was to take a ferry to Praslin and head to La Digue. I will have to save that for my next trip which I am already eagerly planning.

The crew and I rented a car from the airport and set off on our road trip around Mahé Island. If you do plan to drive I do have a word of warning for you – the roads are extremely narrow and wind through dense coastal forest, so be careful. As we headed up the mountain we came across this amazing lookout point where you have a panoramic view of Eden Island.

After taking quite a few wrong turns we finally came across Port Glaud Waterfall that was hidden down a residential street of all places! We were surprised to find that we were the only people there. It wasn’t until an hour or so later that other tourists started arriving. As much as I wanted to dive into the warm water I unfortunately couldn’t as this was my first flight back after my ankle injury and I didn’t want to risk any more damage to it. While we were there one of the young local boys appeared at the top of a very tall tree and succeeded in giving us all a heart attack as he leapt into the water below from a height of at least 15 metres!

You just can’t visit the Seychelles without stopping at one of the picturesque white sand, clear blue water beaches. We wandered down the beach and admired the beautiful Anse L’Islette Bay. I wouldn’t mind waking up to this view every day.

Before heading off we stopped off at one more beach which was very popular with the locals. Restaurants are dotted along the coastline here with every international cuisine imaginable available! We ended up at Baobab Pizzeria which I would visit again as we received amazing service and the food was absolutely delicious.

We all wished that we could have stayed longer but it was time for all of us to head back to Dubai. The best bit is we didn’t even need to adjust because Dubai is in the same time zone. Until next time Seychelles!
